In this talk, Dr. Hartnick reviews the safety and efficacy results of the recently completed FDA study of Hypoglossal Nerve Stimulation in children with Down syndrome and severe sleep apnea. He also reviews the ongoing NIH funded FDA study evaluation and the effect of such stimulation on treating sleep apnea, and therefore upon neurocognition and expressive language production.
