The video below is a recording of a webinar about self-talk presented by Brian Chicoine, MD on November 10, 2021. Dr. Chicoine is the co-founder and medical director at the Adult Down Syndrome Center. Self-talk is a conversation with oneself or imaginary friends. It can be a way for individuals with Down syndrome (and many without Down syndrome) to process information, cope with challenging situations, direct behavior, and counter boredom. Dr. Chicoine described the benefit and function of self-talk. He also discussed what a change in self-talk may indicate and how to address those changes.
